Andersen® Windows’ Fibrex® Material
Andersen’s® engineers were determined to find a way to build a window frame with the sturdiness of wood and the low-maintenace benefits of vinyl. The result of their mission is called Fibrex®. Fibrex® material is patented and unique to Andersen® windows and patio doors.
Fibrex® is a composite made from roughly 40% recycled wood fiber and 60% thermoplastic polymer. This blend gives Andersen® Windows the strength to resist warping and cracking and resilience to preven the frame from breaking down or deforming when exposed to sunlight, heat, and temperature changes.
For you, this means Fibrex® frames don’t peel, rot, or corrode like other materials commonly do in Bay Area weather. Fibrex® windows expand and contract far less than vinyl so the seals around the glass last longer preserving the energy efficiency benefits of the windows.
And, in Fibrex® windows the color is mixed throughout the material, so it never needs painting. The strength means Fibrex® can be made into narrower frames, so you’ll get more light and more viewing area through your windows.
